The Society for Army Historical Research
(Incorporating Visit to Tower of London, Annual General Meeting,
Lecture, Prize-giving, Reception)

All members of The Society are cordially invited to the 2016 AGM and the associated events to be held on Wednesday 27th April, in the superb setting of The Headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (see below) in HM Tower of London, London, EC3N 4AB. All events covered by this invitation are free of charge to all paid-up SAHR members. Members are welcome to bring one partner or prospective member with them subject to total numbers applying. In addition to our normal programme of events, the invitation includes entry to all Tower facilities during the afternoon and at the famous Ceremony of the Keys at the end of the evening.
This promises to be a popular event and members are advised to book early.

The nearest Underground Station is Tower Hill, on the District and Circle Lines. The main entrance is a 5 minute walk from the station.  The nearest mainline stations are Fenchurch Street (5 min walk) or London Bridge (15 minutes).

The programme of events is as follows:

From 1330:      Members at leisure to tour Tower of London (Admission free to registered attendees)
From 1630:      Members assemble in Royal Fusiliers Museum, light refreshments available
1715:               Annual General Meeting
1815:               Lecture by Professor Bill Philpott (Kings College London) on the ‘Last Day of the Somme’
1915:               Prize giving – including annual Templer Award for best book on Military History
2015:              Reception (finger buffet and wine), disperse at 2115 or:
2130:               Ceremony of the Keys (for those wishing/able to attend)
2200:               Last Post; disperse

Admittance to the Tower will be strictly by invitation only so if you would like to attend

Please put ‘SAHR AGM’ in the title and state the name and contact number of the SAHR member attending (and name of his/her partner if applicable). Please also advise whether you would like to stay on for the Ceremony of the Keys – attendance at which may need to be limited and therefore based on a first come, first served basis.

PLEASE NOTE - Attendance at the event is only open to paid-up members of the
Society (and up to one guest subject to space) - but it is not too late to join us and apply.
